Our Services

Design Consultation

Every deck lighting project starts with a design consultation to plan the layout before any fixtures are ordered or installed. We assess the deck, discuss how the space is used, and map out a lighting plan that covers the right areas with the right fixtures for the property.

Installation Services

Our team handles complete lighting installation for both residential and commercial properties in Wilmington, NC. Post cap lights, rail lights, and step lights are all installed with clean, precise workmanship and positioned to deliver consistent, useful illumination across the full deck area.

Wiring and Electrical

Reliable lighting depends on wiring that is done properly from the start. We manage all electrical work as part of the installation process, ensuring every connection is safe, code-compliant, and built to handle the demands of an outdoor environment in Wilmington, NC.

Automation and Controls

We install lighting automation systems controlled by timers, dimmers, or smart controls based on the property owner's preferences. Automation adds convenience and helps manage energy use without sacrificing lighting quality.

Post Cap and Step Lights

Post cap lights, rail lights, and step lights are among the most practical and commonly requested lighting options we install for your deck. Post caps provide ambient light across the deck surface while step lights improve visibility and safety on stairs and level changes throughout the outdoor space.

What Professional Deck Lighting Delivers

Safe and Functional After Dark

Well-placed deck lighting improves visibility on stairs, edges, and surfaces where poor lighting creates real safety risks.

Extends How Long the Space Gets Used

Quality outdoor lighting makes the deck usable well into the evening rather than only during daylight hours.

Planned for the Space

Professional deck lighting installation is laid out to cover the right areas with the right amount of light rather than leaving dark spots or over-lit zones.

Adds to the Overall Deck Experience

A thoughtfully designed lighting system improves the atmosphere and feel of the outdoor space in a way that generic fixtures cannot match.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions?

What options are available for outdoor deck lighting?

Outdoor deck lighting options include post cap lights, rail lights, step lights, and automated systems with timer or dimmer controls. The right combination depends on the size of the deck, how the space is used, and the level of ambiance and visibility the property owner wants to achieve.

Can deck lighting installation be integrated with automated systems?

Yes. Lighting installation can include automation controls such as timers, dimmers, and smart switches. These systems allow the lighting to be managed without manual switching and help maintain consistent performance across the deck area throughout the evening.

How does a design consultation improve the deck lighting layout?

A design consultation allows the lighting plan to be mapped out around the actual deck before any fixtures are purchased or installed. This prevents gaps in coverage, avoids over-lighting certain zones, and ensures the finished system suits the way the space is actually used.

What safety considerations are included in deck lighting services?

Professionals account for proper fixture placement on stairs and level changes, correct wiring for outdoor conditions, and code-compliant electrical connections throughout the installation. All work is carried out to meet local building requirements in Wilmington, NC.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From start to finish, everyone we worked with at DPTU was phenomenal! Christine opened up the communication by responding to our web inquiry, then Bryan coordinated with us to visit the property and look at our current deck and what we were hoping to achieve by going composite instead of pressure treated. He provided concise information that answered all of our questions before landing on a project plan. Communication was always consistent, and Mark and Jeff even made site visits to ensure everything was done accordingly. I will recommend DPTU to anyone who has similar needs, whether its an upgrade or not. Cannot say enough good things about this company and its people!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Deck and Patio Tune Up did an amazing job on both our front and back patio. They replaced our patio railing which was made of wood and had rotted away. They came in and finished the front and back patio railing within a few days. They were quick to respond and provided a free consultation. They gave me regular updates as to when the project would start. They kept to their word and came on the scheduled day. They did a fantastic job. The job was not rushed at all. I saw how the team discussed what to do when certain unexpected things popped up along the way. The team who installed the patio railing took their time to complete quality work. They used quality materials and regularly inspected their work to make sure it was done appropriately. I absolutely recommend Deck and Patio Tune Up!
